The Iraqi-American entrepreneur Huda Kattan has primarily made headlines with her beauty empire. She started 16 years ago with a small beauty blog, a line of artificial eyelashes and not-so-perfect YouTube tutorials from her living room.
Today she is one of the most influential people in the contemporary beauty scene. She is the founder of the billion-dollar and internationally renowned company Huda Beauty. In 2017, Time magazine even included her in the list of the 25 most influential people on the Internet.
The controversial video
Huda Kattan often uses her wide reach to draw attention to global injustices and is involved, among other things, in the Free Palestine movement. However, her latest post about Iran has caused displeasure.
The outrage erupted after Kattan shared a video that allegedly shows pro-regime protesters in Iran burning pictures of Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi and US President Donald Trump, writes International Business Times.

Although the video was presented as a protest post, many Iranian users accused it of spreading content that supports the Iranian regime. They distort the reality of the protests and spread state propaganda.
Hashtags quickly trended on social media questioning her judgment and intentions. However, other users defend the entrepreneur and point out her previous commitment and the difficulty of addressing complex political issues on social media.
