According to Israeli information, the Bulgarian and former UN Middle East envoy Nikolaj Mladenov will be part of the “Peace Council”. The name of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair was also mentioned in media reports.

Technocrat government came together
On Thursday, the new technocratic government of Palestinian experts for Gaza met for the first time in Cairo under US-Egyptian patronage, as the pro-government Egyptian media “Al-Qahera News” reported. Technocrats are members of the government who assume their positions based primarily on professional qualifications and professional experience, not because of party political affiliation. Such governments are often used in transition or crisis phases to professionally organize administration and public services.
Disarming Hamas remains controversial
Part of the second phase of the peace plan announced by the USA is the disarmament of Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The Islamist terrorist organization has agreed to set up the government of non-political experts without Hamas connections. However, she continues to reject disarmament.
In addition, Hamas has not yet fulfilled its first phase commitments. This includes the handover of all hostages still in the Gaza Strip. The remains of an Israeli hostage are still there. (sda/dpa)
