The number could rise over the course of the day, said the Fraport spokeswoman to the German news agency DPA. The airport starts the day with “tense winter operations” and significant disruptions are expected. The major winter service is in operation, and the runway also needs to be cleared. 34 vehicles are used to de-ice the aircraft at the aircraft parking positions.
Passengers are urged to check their flight status well before their trip and to allow more time for their journey depending on the weather conditions. In addition, they should be at the terminal at Frankfurt Airport at least three hours before departure, said the spokeswoman. The German Weather Service had issued a severe weather warning for black ice for parts of Hesse for the day. (sda/apa/dpa)
