Best Film – Musical or Comedy: One Battle After Another
Nominated in nine categories, “One Battle After Another” triumphed in four. With a star cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn and Teyana Taylor, director Paul Thomas Anderson tells the story of militant left-wing activists, led primarily by self-confident black women.

“One Battle After Another” won the Top Globe for best comedy, for direction, for best screenplay and for supporting actress Taylor.
Best Film – Drama: Hamnet
“Hamnet” by director Chloé Zhao won the award for best film drama. The film is about the Shakespeare family and beat out “Frankenstein”, “It Was Just an Accident”, “Sentimental Value”, “Sinners” and “The Secret Agent”.

Best Actor – Musical or Comedy: Timothée Chalamet
Timothée Chalamet (30) won the coveted trophy for the first time with his fifth Golden Globe nomination. He received the award in the category of best actor in a comedy/musical for his role as an ambitious table tennis player in the tragicomedy “Marty Supreme”.

At the 83rd Globe Awards, Chalamet beat George Clooney (“Jay Kelly”), Leonardo DiCaprio (“One Battle After Another”), Ethan Hawke (“Blue Moon”), Lee Byung-Hun (“No Other Choice”) and Jesse Plemons (“Bugonia”).
His father taught him to always be grateful for what you have, Chalamet said in his acceptance speech. This has helped him in the past when he came away empty-handed at award ceremonies. This moment is even sweeter.
Best Actress – Musical or Comedy: Rose Byrne
Australia’s Rose Byrne won the trophy for best actress in a comedy/musical. The 46-year-old was honored for her role as an overwhelmed mother in the comedy-drama “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You”. She prevailed against five competitors, including Hollywood stars such as Cynthia Erivo (39, “Wicked: Part 2”), Kate Hudson (46, “Song Sung Blue”) and Emma Stone (37, “Bugonia”).

Best Supporting Actress: Teyana Taylor
Teyana Taylor won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress. The 35-year-old impressed with her role as a militant activist in the triumphant political thriller “One Battle After Another” by director Paul Thomas Anderson.

Emily Blunt (“The Smashing Machine”), Elle Fanning (“Sentimental Value”), Ariana Grande (“Wicked: Part 2”), Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (“Sentimental Value”) and Amy Madigan (“Weapons – The Hour of Disappearance”) were nominated with her.
Singer and actress Taylor was visibly surprised – she promptly received the trophy with her first ever Globe nomination.
Best Supporting Actor: Stellan Skarsgard
Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård won the award for best supporting actor. The 74-year-old impressed in the family drama “Sentimental Value” by Norwegian Joachim Trier in the role of a father who is estranged from his daughters.

Benicio Del Toro (“One Battle After Another”), Jacob Elordi (“Frankenstein”), Paul Mescal (“Hamnet”), Sean Penn (“One Battle After Another”) and Adam Sandler (“Jay Kelly”) were in the running with him.
Skarsgård said in his acceptance speech that he thought he was too old to win. He is happy that a small Norwegian film without a big budget is getting this attention.

US director Paul Thomas Anderson won in the “Best Director” category. He is the architect behind the political thriller “One Battle After Another”.

Also nominated for the Director’s Globe were the American Ryan Coogler (“Blood & Sinners”), the Mexican Guillermo del Toro (“Frankenstein”), the Iranian Jafar Panahi (“A Simple Accident”), the Norwegian Joachim Trier (“Sentimental Value”) and the Chinese-born Chloé Zhao (“Hamnet”).
Best Drama Actress: Jessie Buckley
Irish actress Jessie Buckley won best actress in a drama. The 36-year-old actress impressed with her role in the moving drama “Hamnet” about the Shakespeare family, which has to come to terms with the death of their son Hamnet.

Buckley prevailed against Jennifer Lawrence (“Die My Love”), Renate Reinsve (“Sentimental Value”), Julia Roberts (“After the Hunt”), Tessa Thompson (“Hedda”) and Eva Victor (“Sorry, Baby”).
Best Drama Actor: Wagner Moura
The Brazilian Wagner Moura is Buckley’s male counterpart. The 49-year-old impressed with his role in the thriller “The Secret Agent”.

Best non-English film: The Secret Agent
The Brazilian film “The Secret Agent” won the Golden Globe for best non-English language film. The political drama “A Simple Accident” (France) by director Jafar Panahi, “The Voice of Hind Rajab” (Tunisia), “Sentimental Value” (Norway) and “Sirât” (Spain), set in Iran, were also nominated. The drama “Looking into the Sun” by Berlin director Mascha Schilinski did not make it onto the list of nominees. The film about four young women who live on a farm in the Altmark at different times is Germany’s candidate for the 98th Academy Awards in March.
Best animation: KPop Demon Hunters
KPop Demon Hunters was named best animated film. The Netflix production in collaboration with Sony broke all records on the streaming platform last year and remains the most-watched Netflix original title ever.

Best film music: Blood & Sinners
The Swedish film composer Ludwig Göransson won a Golden Globe with the soundtrack for the film “Blood & Sinners”. The 41-year-old prevailed against, among others, the Frenchman Alexandre Desplat (“Frankenstein”) and the British Jonny Greenwood (“One Battle After Another”).
The German film composer Hans Zimmer (68) also had a chance of winning a prize with his music for the racing film “F1” and the German-born British composer Max Richter (59) with his accompaniment to the drama “Hamnet” by director Chloé Zhao. It was Zimmer’s 16th nomination in the “Best Film Music” category. In 2022, the Frankfurt native won his third trophy for “Dune”, after “Gladiator” (2001) and “The Lion King” (1995).
Best theme song: Golden
Golden, the theme song from KPop Demon Hunters was named best theme song.
