Two Latvian nationals have been arrested in Britain for unlawfully entering an air base used by the United States.

On Wednesday evening, Ministry of Defence Police officers patrolling RAF Molesworth discovered an abandoned vehicle, after which a breach in the facility’s perimeter fence was found.

The men, aged 36 and 32, were arrested at around 2 a.m. on Thursday. Both are Latvian citizens currently residing in the United Kingdom.

They were initially arrested on suspicion of trespassing on a restricted site and criminal damage, before being taken to a police station.

The two men were later arrested again on suspicion of committing an offence under Section 4 of the National Security Act 2023, namely entering a prohibited place for a purpose prejudicial to the United Kingdom. Both men are currently in police custody.

This is not the first incident of its kind. In early October, British authorities arrested a seventh suspect in connection with a possible attack on RAF Fairford.
