The ship posed a threat to maritime security in the strait, the Revolutionary Guards said via its channel Sepah News on Telegram. According to this, several ships had previously tried to travel an unauthorized route and ignored requests from the Revolutionary Guards to correct their route.
As a result of this incident, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until further notice and until the end of US intervention in the region, the statement said. Passage is prohibited. If the “aggressor” launches new attacks against Iran, the US said, it would respond with further attacks on “enemy bases” in the region.
The Revolutionary Guards had previously declared that they would not tolerate “foreign interference” in determining shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz, the IRGC Navy said in a statement. Such interference would result in decisive action from the Iranian side.
