Another attack on at least one tanker took place in the Strait of Hormuz. The ship was hit by a drone in the strait and was slightly damaged, the British Merchant Shipping Safety Authority (UKMTO) said in the afternoon, citing “military authorities”.
However, there were no casualties and the ship continued its journey. It remained unclear which authority and which country reported the attack.
Almost at the same time, the authorities reported that a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz had been hit by an “unknown projectile” and was presumably damaged. It remained unclear whether both reports from the authority related to the same incident. It also remained unclear who was behind the attack.
The authorities had already reported an attack in the area during the night, in which, according to the ship’s crew, a tanker was hit by an “unknown projectile”. Nobody was injured. The Axios portal reported, citing two US officials, that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards had fired at least two missiles at freighters. One of the officials said that two ships were badly damaged by the shelling. (sda/dpa)
