The Israeli government is expanding its control over the Palestinian West Bank at an “unprecedented pace,” according to two non-governmental organizations.
In a joint report, Peace Now and Kerem Navot say the government has fundamentally changed the administration and control system within three years. This could seriously affect the chances of a future political agreement.
According to both organizations, the process of annexing the West Bank occurs through hundreds of administrative, budgetary and planning decisions. Among other things, the expansion of Israeli settlements, the establishment of new settler outposts, the expulsion of Palestinian pastoralist communities, land takeovers, extensive investments in infrastructure and changes to land law are mentioned.
According to the report, a total of 185 new outposts were created between 2023 and 2025. In addition, 118 Palestinian pastoralist communities were displaced. At least 223 kilometers of new roads have been built across the West Bank. There is no independent confirmation of this information. (maw/sda/dpa)
