What happened?
Three people were seriously injured, two of them critically, in a violent explosion at the entrance to a residential building in Monaco. The explosion occurred around 9 p.m., Monegasque State Minister Christophe Mirmand said on French broadcaster BFMTV. According to media reports, an explosive package blew up.

Shortly before the incident, a person was said to have been observed at the location, putting down a backpack and then fleeing, as BFMTV reported, citing the Monegasque security authority and the regional newspaper “Monaco-Matin”.
According to information from France’s Interior Ministry, French rescue workers arrived on site as reinforcements. Police cooperation was also set up to track down the fugitive perpetrator. State Minister Mirmand initially did not want to confirm whether this was an attack.
Who is the suspect?
That is still unclear, he is a fugitive. Media showed an image captured by surveillance cameras of a running man wearing a dark hat.
The suspect is said to have walked towards the French town of Beausoleil. According to Mirmand, the building in question is located in a square near the border with France.
Who are the victims?
According to information from “Monaco-Matin”, the three victims are a man and a woman aged 50 to 60 and a young person who belong to a family. Numerous rescue workers were on site in the evening, reported “Monaco-Matin”. Four other people also suffered shock, said Mirmand.
What do the authorities say?
“An event of this kind has never happened in the principality,” said Prime Minister Mirmand. The mayor of the southern French city of Nice, which is around 20 kilometers from the principality, described the incident as an “attack” in a post on the X platform. It was a “tragedy that shocked Monaco,” wrote Eric Ciotti. He expressed full support for the security and rescue forces who are on duty.
The assassination was a tragedy in Monaco.
Pensées for les victims, family members and Monégasque people. Soutien total aux forces de security and aux services de secours mobilisés.
