The Ukrainian army says it has recaptured hundreds of square kilometers in southern Ukraine shortly before the anniversary of the Russian attack.

“From the end of January, control over 400 square kilometers and eight settlements has been restored on the Oleksandrivka sector,” wrote Ukrainian commander Olexander Syrskyj on social networks.
The situation on the border of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions is still difficult and the Russian troops are maintaining the pressure.
There had previously been several reports of the recapture of hundreds of square kilometers. However, Ukrainian military observers wrote of at best “stabilizing measures”.
MP Marjana Besuhla accused President Volodymyr Zelensky, who recently spoke of 300 square kilometers, of disinformation. «Why this lie? Which 300 square kilometers are we talking about?” she wrote on Telegram.
