French President Emmanuel Macron said Wednesday a standoff with the US over Greenland was “a strategic wake-up call for all of Europe”, speaking alongside the leaders of Denmark and the Danish autonomous territory. Speaking with FRANCE 24’s Mark Owen, Federico Santopinto, Senior Research Fellow at IRIS, says that ‘Europe has had already several strategic wake up calls in the past, but when a new crisis comes they discover that they are still weak and dependent on the United States’.
