Thomas Gottschalk is suffering from cancer. The 75-year-old entertainer, who was the face of German evening entertainment for decades, spoke for the first time about his serious diagnosis and the past few months, which were marked by complicated procedures.
As Thomas Gottschalk revealed in an interview with the “Bild” newspaper, he received the news in July 2025. The doctors diagnosed the presenter with a rare and malignant tumor: a so-called epithelioid angiosarcoma.
Two serious operations
So far, Gottschalk has had to undergo two serious operations. The interventions were profound; According to his own statements, parts of the ureters and the bladder, among other things, had to be removed. The treatment is not yet fully completed, the entertainer still has to take strong medication.

His wife Karina described the seriousness of the situation: “Thomas had a serious, complicated cancer operation almost four months ago. The diagnosis was harsh. Epithelioid angiosarcoma. A rare, malignant tumor that arises from the cells of the blood vessels.” After the diagnosis, no time was lost; Gottschalk was operated on immediately.
