All genres of theater, dance and music are traditionally shown in the magnificent building of the Kennedy Center on the Potomac River. It was named after former President John F. Kennedy (1917-1963).
Trump reacted happily in a press conference: “I was surprised by it. I felt honored by that.” Trump said his government saved the building. The building was in very poor condition. And now it is very solid, very stable. There had been work on the exterior facade in the past few weeks.
Trump took control of the Kennedy Center early on
Shortly after taking office, Trump fired several members of the Kennedy Center’s board of trustees, took over the chairmanship himself and made the former US ambassador to Germany, Richard Grenell, president.
One member of the board of trustees, Democrat Joyce Beatty of Ohio, said she tried to speak out against the name change. But she was muted during a virtual meeting, she told the New York Times. It was only at the beginning of December that the Peace Institute in Washington was renamed the Donald J. Trump Peace Institute. (dab/sda/dpa)
