A Russian lieutenant general has been killed in a car explosion in the south of Moscow. This is reported by the Reuters news agency, citing Russian investigators. Other media also report unanimously that Fanil Sarwarov died from his serious injuries. It had previously been said that the military man was “in an extremely critical condition”.
Two other vehicles were also damaged by the blast on Monday morning. There was reportedly a bomb hidden under the driver’s seat. Investigations have been initiated.
According to media reports, Sarvarov served in four wars, most recently in the Ukraine War. He most recently headed the Russian military’s operational preparation directorate.
