The terrorist militia Islamic State (IS) celebrated the anti-Semitic attack in Sydney, but did not directly claim responsibility for the attack. In a propaganda publication distributed on the Internet, IS described the attack on Bondi Beach in the Australian metropolis as the “Pride of Sydney”. The terrorist organization announced that IS fighters and supporters would continue to try to attack “Jews everywhere.”
In the attack on Sunday, two assassins opened fire on the crowd on the beach during the Jewish festival of lights, Hanukkah. They killed 15 people and injured dozens.
IS has not yet claimed responsibility for the attack. There was also no mention in the newsletter of whether the two attackers had sworn loyalty to IS. However, the Australian authorities assume that the two were influenced and motivated by IS. (sda/dpa)
