Trump maintains a good relationship with King Charles III. Days ago it became known that Andrew, the king’s brother, would lose all titles and honors because of his involvement in the scandal surrounding sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The king had initiated the withdrawal of the titles. With the public degradation, the British monarchy is trying to draw a line under one of the biggest scandals in its modern history.
The Epstein scandal was the trigger for the title being revoked
The main trigger was the publication of the memoirs of an Epstein victim, which revealed further shocking details about the abuse of dozens of women and girls. Andrew is accused of forcing the then minor to have sex. He denies the allegations.
Financier Epstein, who systematically abused minors over many years, committed suicide in his prison cell in 2019 at the age of 66, according to official information. Epstein’s death caused speculation in parts of US society because he had the best contacts in American high society. Celebrities and billionaires came and went with him – US President Trump also spent time with Epstein, as party photos show.
The Epstein scandal has also kept Trump busy in recent months. During the election campaign he promised to release all files, but this has not yet happened.
In September, Trump paid a state visit to the UK to see King Charles III. as a guest. The visit was accompanied by protests related to the Epstein scandal. (sda/dpa)
