BRATISLAVA – Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said he will pass on “several messages and conclusions” to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy after a private hour-long conversation with Vladimir Putin that followed their official meeting in China.
“I drew several conclusions and messages from this important conversation, which I intend to convey to President Zelenskyy on Friday,” Fico wrote on Facebook, adding that Putin had informed him “about the progress of talks with the US President Donald Trump in Alaska and about the prospects for ending this military conflict.”
Fico is due to meet Zelenskyy on Friday in the Slovak-Ukrainian border city of Uzhhorod. It will be their first encounter since he began his fourth term as prime minister, though he has already met Putin three times in less than a year.
While in China, Fico is also scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping, Vietnam’s Luong Cuong and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
