The 82-year-old died “peacefully in her home” on Thursday, her two daughters Louise and Antonia said.
Her literary agent, James Gill, said it was “with great sadness” to learn of the death of Trollope – “one of our most popular, renowned and widely read novelists.”
Many of her more than 40 novels were set in rural central England and often dealt with social issues such as affairs, relationships, family life and marital crises. Her works include “The Rector’s Wife”, “Marrying the Mistress” and “Other People’s Children”. According to the BBC, her books have been translated into more than 25 languages and some works have also been adapted for television. (dab/sda/dpa)
