Videos of the conversation scene were viewed en masse on social media, and the premiere lady received a lot of criticism for her choice of words.

Those around her now said that the President’s wife only wanted to criticize an action by the feminist group #Nous Toutes (all of us) during a stage appearance by Abittan (51). Masked activists interrupted a show by the comedian on Saturday and called him a rapist.
Abittan, known for his role in the hit film “Monsieur Claude and his Daughters”, was accused of rape in 2021 by a then 23-year-old woman with whom he had been dating for a few weeks. In April 2024, the investigation against him was closed, a decision that an appeals court upheld in January 2025. Only after a long period of disruption to his career did Abittan return to the stage with a show that had previously featured actions by activists.

“Throw out dirty bitches”
During the short conversation that is now at the center of the criticism, Brigitte Macron asked the comedian on the sidelines of his appearance on Sunday how he was doing and alluded to the protests. Regarding the disruptive actions, Abittan said he was scared. Macron reacted casually and said literally:
“If these dirty bitches are here, we’ll throw them out.”

The president’s wife was sharply criticized for her words by a number of politicians and also online. “Really. I am at a loss for words. Just the idea that this person fills entire halls makes me sick, but that the First Lady of France supports him and says this… I could really cry,” it said under the hashtag #salesconnes.
