Another possible case of poisoning in Istanbul.Image: imago
After the death of a Hamburg family in Istanbul, there are increasing indications of further possible poisoning cases. A three-year-old boy died in April after pest control was carried out in the neighboring apartment, the DHA news agency reported.
It is said to be the same company that carried out pest control in the Hamburg family’s hotel.
In mid-November, four members of a Hamburg family died. According to a preliminary forensic report, pest control in the room below the family could have caused their death. This is not yet certain. Food poisoning, which was initially thought to be the cause of death, was described as less likely.
In the case of the three-year-old, the autopsy report confirmed poisoning by pesticides, as reported by DHA. The child initially vomited repeatedly at home, was then taken to a hospital and died there in April. The boy’s father filed a complaint against the pest control company. The Istanbul Public Prosecutor General’s Office has started an investigation into the three-year-old’s case. (sda/dpa)
