The US company Amazon wants to cut thousands of jobs in its administration. According to the company, around 14,000 jobs will be cut as part of comprehensive organizational changes.
As the company announced on Tuesday, office jobs are particularly affected. The measure corresponds to around ten percent of the approximately 350,000 administrative offices at the online retailer. Areas such as warehouses and sales, where over 1.5 million people work, are therefore not affected.
According to information from the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, the total number of jobs cut could even be around 30,000. The measures should therefore begin on Tuesday. Amazon itself did not comment specifically on this. Observers see the cuts as a reaction to a changed economic situation and internal restructuring.
