At least one drone has been spotted at the airport in the Swedish city of Gothenburg. Air traffic at Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport is therefore currently suspended, a representative of the responsible authority Luftfartsverket told the newspaper Aftonbladet in the evening. Airport operator Swedavia also told several Swedish media outlets that the airspace over the airport is currently closed.
As a list from Swedavia showed, two flights from Munich and Frankfurt had to be redirected – where it was not clear from the information. According to Aftonbladet, the planes were sent to the Danish capital Copenhagen, around 230 kilometers further south. Flights from Gothenburg to Munich and Frankfurt were also canceled.
Ominous drone sightings have caused unrest at various airports in NATO countries in recent weeks. Among other things, the observation of several larger drones in Copenhagen at the end of September caused flight chaos for hours. Most recently, flight operations at Brussels Airport came to a standstill twice on Tuesday evening due to drone sightings. Dozens of flights had to be canceled. There was such an incident at Hanover airport on Wednesday evening. (sda/dpa)
