The regional court in the northern German Hanseatic city decided this in a civil case more than two years after the incident. If the defendants block an airport again, they can be detained for up to six months, the court explained.
A cut through the fence
On July 13, 2023, the climate protection activists cut open a fence at the airport and thus gained access to the area. Four of them stuck themselves near runways. A total of four women and six men were involved, who were between 19 and 63 years old at the time.
Eurowings, a Lufthansa subsidiary, had sued on behalf of the Lufthansa Group. The verdict was made on November 20th, but only became public on Tuesday. It is not yet legally binding. (sda/dpa)
