Swedish media are currently working on fixing the error, citing operator Vattenfall during the night. According to Vattenfall’s website, maintenance work on the reactor was completed just last week.

There are currently three nuclear power plants in operation in Sweden with a total of six reactors, three of them at the Forsmark site, two in Oskarshamn and one at the Ringhals power plant. Together they account for around 30 percent of Sweden’s electricity production. Forsmark 1, around 130 kilometers north of the capital Stockholm, was put into operation in 1980, according to Vattenfall’s website.
The conservative government and its right-wing populist supporting party, the Sweden Democrats, agreed to expand nuclear power before taking office in autumn 2022. The Swedish government considers nuclear power to be a crucial building block on the path to a more climate-friendly future. (sda/dpa)
