Around 1.4 tons of drugs were confiscated in a large-scale drug raid in several Italian cities with hundreds of arrests. According to the Ansa news agency, it was a concerted action in several provinces against organized crime. Specifically, there were 384 arrests and 655 reports.
A total of 35 kilograms of cocaine, 1,370 kilograms of cannabis products and one kilogram of heroin were seized. The investigators from the mobile task forces represented throughout Italy found 41 firearms, 80 cutting and stabbing weapons and over 300,000 euros in cash. The money is considered proceeds from drug trafficking.
Cannabis shops in sight
Some of the trade is said to have been carried out through cannabis shops. That is why there were targeted controls on the sale of hemp products in cannabis shops. More than 300 stores were checked; 5 of them in three different cities were confiscated.
According to the information, several social media profiles were identified whose content is currently being checked. Depending on the results of the checks, the profiles should be reported to the judicial authorities so that they can be blocked. (sda/dpa)
