A spokesman for former US President Bill Clinton has criticized the US Department of Justice for publishing numerous photos of the Democrat in the context of the sex offender scandal involving Jeffrey Epstein. There are two groups of people, Angel Urena wrote on And a second group that continued their relationship with him afterwards. “We belong to the first group.” No amount of delaying tactics from people in the second group will change that, he wrote.
On Friday afternoon (local time), the Ministry of Justice published a large amount of photos and documents relating to the case of the sex offender Epstein, who died in 2019, on its website – shortly before the expiry of a deadline that had been set by law for publication.
Clinton can be seen in numerous photos – for example, swimming in the pool with Epstein’s long-time confidant Ghislaine Maxwell. In other recordings he is seen without reference to Epstein and Maxwell.
Republican US President Donald Trump has repeatedly tried to draw attention to Clinton in recent weeks. He claimed that he was on one of Epstein’s private islands. Trump’s chief of staff Susie Wiles contradicted this account: “There is no evidence for it,” she told Vanity Fair magazine. Clinton’s spokesman said years ago that Clinton had “never been to Little St. James Island, Epstein’s ranch in New Mexico, or his residence in Florida.”
The Epstein case has concerned the public for many years. The influential US multimillionaire from New York had run an abuse ring for years, which victimized dozens of young women and minors. Over several years, Epstein himself is said to have abused underage girls in places such as New York and Florida. He died in his prison cell at the age of 66. (sda/dpa)
