After the violent death of “Harry and Sally” director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, the suspected son Nick Reiner cannot initially appear in court. Nick Reiner does not yet have medical clearance to be transported from prison to court, said his lawyer Alan Jackson, according to consistent US media reports. It is still unclear when this will come and there could be a hearing. In any case, there will no longer be an appointment this Tuesday (local time). Jackson initially did not provide any further details.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department’s investigation, 32-year-old Nick Reiner is believed to be responsible for the violent deaths of his parents. He was arrested on Sunday evening, around six hours after police discovered the slain couple in their home in the Brentwood district. The public prosecutor’s office is now dealing with the case.
Rob Reiner, director of hit films such as “Harry and Sally,” “Misery” and “A Question of Honor,” was 78 years old. There were different reports about the age of his wife Michele, who worked as a photographer, ranging from 65 to 70 years old. The couple, married since 1989, had three children together: Jake, Nick, and Romy. The director also adopted the daughter of his first wife, Penny Marshall. Son Nick had repeatedly spoken publicly about his struggle with drug addiction. (sda/dpa)
