New Zealand police have naturally recovered a miniature diamond-encrusted Fabergé egg that was swallowed by a thief. The investigators simply kept the perpetrator under surveillance for six days until the valuable pendant turned up again.
“Police can confirm that the trailer has been recovered,” said a statement distributed on Friday. “He is now in police custody.”

The investigators had assigned an officer specifically to guard the thief while they let nature take its course. The thief swallowed the jewelry pendant, which cost the equivalent of around 15,700 francs, in a jewelry store in Auckland at the end of last week, but was caught before he could escape.
The pendant in the shape of a Fabergé egg was a special edition inspired by the James Bond film “Octopussy”. The green piece of jewelry is covered with diamond-studded gold ornaments, and a small gold octopus is hidden inside. (sda/afp)
