The police have caught three suspected thieves in Potsdam who are said to have stolen almost 15 kilograms of butter from a supermarket. The trio stowed 59 packs of butter in a backpack they had brought with them on Wednesday afternoon and left the discount store, the police said. However, the suspected butter thieves were observed by a customer.
The alerted police arrested the suspects near the discount store. The men are well known to the authorities because of other thefts. They will be brought before a judge later today. The police are investigating commercial theft. It was not initially clear what the men intended to do with the butter. (sda/dpa)
