Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Friday he wants the agreement to scrap roaming fees for Ukrainians to become a permanent arrangement with the European Union.
“Of course we need to make this decision about canceling the roaming fees for Ukrainians, between Ukraine and EU states, on permanent basis,” Zelenskyy told members of the national parliament in an address Friday.
European telecoms operators in April agreed to drop roaming fees for Ukrainians who fled the war-struck country to Europe. The EU in June also decided to take Ukraine’s telecoms regulator NCEC on board its EU-wide group of telecoms regulators, BEREC, as a member without voting rights.
