According to World Bank estimates, the reconstruction of Syria, which was devastated by the civil war, will cost around 216 billion US dollars (185.3 billion euros). This is around ten times Syria’s gross domestic product last year, the bank in Washington said. The estimated costs included spending on infrastructure ($82 billion), residential buildings ($75 billion), and commercial and public buildings ($59 billion).
