Three days after the terrorist attack on a Jewish festival in Sydney, 21 injured people are still being treated in hospital.

Five of them are in critical condition as of Wednesday afternoon (local time), four of them are stable, as the health authorities in the Australian state of New South Wales announced. It remained unclear whether the younger of the two attackers was included, who was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds and is now said to be out of danger.

The two attackers killed 15 people in the attack on the famous Bondi Beach on Sunday. Around 40 injured people were taken to hospitals, some later dying from their gunshot wounds.
The attackers were a 50-year-old man and his 24-year-old son. The father was shot by security forces at the scene, his son was arrested and taken to hospital with serious injuries. According to the Australian broadcaster ABC, he will be questioned by the police today. He had long-standing connections with members of an Australian network of supporters of the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS). (sda/dpa)
