Three missiles Russia launched at Ukraine on Monday from ships in the Black Sea crossed Moldova’s airspace, the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu said on Twitter.

Popescu said that Russia’s ambassador to Moldova has been summoned to provide an explanation. The violation of a country’s airspace constitutes a breach of international law. Popescu condemned the airspace violation in the “strongest possible terms.”

Multiple explosions rocked Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities across the country Monday morning, including Lviv, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia earlier in the night. It was the first time Ukraine’s capital has been under attack since June 26.

“The aggressor launched 75 rockets. 41 of them were destroyed by our air defense,” Ukraine’s top general, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, said.

“Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy added on Telegram, although it remains unclear how many victims there are.

“Appalled by multiple Russian rocket strikes on cities across Ukraine, including capital Kyiv, striking civilian targets,” tweeted Popescu, who is also Moldova’s foreign minister. “Russia must stop killing.”
