Mexican authorities are coordinating rescue efforts
According to him, Mexican authorities coordinated the rescue efforts after the US military command center responsible for the region (Southcom) initiated them.

Largest warship in the world in Latin America
The US government’s fight against drug cartels from Latin America recently reached a new level of escalation. A few days ago, Hegseth sent the largest warship in the world – the aircraft carrier “USS Gerald R. Ford” – to Latin America. US President Donald Trump also announced that he would also take tough action against drug smugglers on land in the future.
The US military has been repeatedly attacking boats allegedly loaded with drugs in the Caribbean and the Pacific for weeks. Dozens of people are said to have already been killed. The approach drew a lot of criticism. UN human rights experts saw this as a violation of international law. (sda/dpa)
