King Harald’s sister is currently being treated at the Rikshospitalet in Oslo. As the Norwegian palace announced on Friday, the 94-year-old was admitted to the hospital due to heart failure. She received a temporary pacemaker that same day.
The palace’s official message also states that King Harald’s sister wants to say that she is “in the best hands.” Astrid will continue to stay at Rikshospitalet and receive medical care there. How long the stay will last has not yet been announced.
She was already in the hospital in March
It is not the first time this year that Astrid has had to receive medical treatment. The princess was already in the hospital in March with pneumonia. Nevertheless, despite her old age, she continues to regularly perform public engagements. She didn’t have an official appointment until May 13th.
Astrid of Norway is the older sister of King Harald V and has been one of the most famous members of the Norwegian royal family for decades.
The news of her heart problems comes just a day after Danish Queen Margrethe II was also reported to have health problems. She is currently being treated at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen after a heart attack.
