Taylor Swift’s ‘Patient Zero’: a video she directed, a chart story still moving
The track has already reached #1 and remains near the summit after three stored weeks.
Taylor Swift · Patient Zero
‘Patient Zero’ is #2 on EUR RADIO’s displayed Europe Top 20, one place lower than the preceding stored chart. Across three stored weeks it has reached #1. That sequence is more revealing than a single snapshot: #3, then #1, then #2 shows a track holding attention near the summit.
Taylor Swift’s official site credits her with directing the ‘Patient Zero’ video, with cinematography by Emmanuel Lubezki and production by Jil Hardin. Those credits give the visual a clear authorial frame. They do not, by themselves, settle what every image in the film means; that interpretation belongs to the viewer.
The chart and the film invite two different ways of following the song. One tracks the changing position week by week; the other looks at the choices made on screen. Watch the video below and explore the archived positions to see whether its second place is a pause or the beginning of a longer descent.
