Tate McRae’s ‘Housewife’ and the freedom inside a pop spectacle
A new chart leader, a cinematic video and a song about choosing one’s own terms.
Tate McRae · Housewife

Tate McRae’s ‘Housewife’ sits at #1 in the Europe Top 20 currently displayed by EUR RADIO. It is marked as a new entry, with one stored week and a peak of #1. That is a striking opening position, but a single week cannot yet tell us how long the track will stay there.
The song arrived with a video directed by Pierre-Ange Carlotti and choreographed by Sergio Reis. Sony describes its central tension as love, fame and independence: an extravagant image slowly gives way to the cost of claiming freedom. That contrast makes the title more provocative than a simple role reversal.
McRae’s performance is part of the story. The choreography and the changing mood of the film turn a sharp pop hook into a character study. Watch the official video below, then return to the chart in coming weeks: the question now is whether this dramatic entrance becomes a longer run at the top.
