According to the government in Kiev, a revised version of the US peace plan to end the war in Ukraine will be sent to Washington today – and will have significantly different features.

The peace plan drawn up by the US government has now been cut from 28 to 20 points, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Ukrainian journalists.
“The openly anti-Ukraine positions have been removed.”
Selenskyj continues to strictly rule out ceding territory to Russia, a particularly sensitive point in the talks about a possible peace solution. “We have no right to do this under the law – neither under the law of Ukraine, nor our constitution or international law, if we are honest,” he was quoted as saying by the Interfax agency. Meanwhile, Russia continues to insist on ceding territory in eastern Ukraine.
The USA handed over its plan to end the war in Ukraine, which has been going on since 2022, to Kiev at the end of November. The draft, which was widely criticized as a “Russian wish list” and approved by Moscow, was rejected by the Ukrainian government and its European allies – and subsequently revised.
Zelensky is touring Europe
After talks about the current status of peace efforts, which he held in London on Monday with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, Zelenskyj flew directly to Brussels. There he informed NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, the President of the European Council, António Costa, and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen about the status of talks with the USA on a possible peace solution.
«Our positions are aligned on all issues. We are acting in a coordinated and constructive manner,” said Zelenskyj on the online platform X after talks with the leaders of the EU and NATO. Von der Leyen wrote after the exchange with the Ukrainian:
“The goal is a strong Ukraine, both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table.”
Costa made a similar statement, affirming: “Ukraine’s security must be guaranteed in the long term as the first line of defense for our Union.” Rutte spoke of good talks on the way to lasting peace.
This was preceded by several days of negotiations between negotiators from Kiev and the USA last week on a new version of the peace plan presented by US President Donald Trump.
Drone attacks on Sumy
Meanwhile, the Russian military again attacked targets in the northeastern Ukrainian region of Sumy. “There are mass attacks on energy facilities in the municipality of Sumy,” said the region’s governor, Oleh Hryhorov, on Telegram. The Russian army has deployed more than a dozen combat drones. The power in the city was out and critical infrastructure was being maintained in emergency mode. As soon as the security situation allows, repair teams should repair the damage. (sda/dpa/con)
